The Flat White coffee, pronounced, flat-wite, is one of the newer drinks in the coffee world, arising within the last few years or so. This newbie consists of a blend of micro foamed milk carefully poured over a single or double shot of espresso. The micro foam is simply milk infused with air to create a smooth bubbly texture and a sweet creamy taste and is usually served in a 160-165ml tulip cup to complete its signature look.
But what does it mean?
The Flat White meaning simply entails an espresso based drink that contains micro foamed bubbly milk without the frothy characteristic of coffees such as the cappuccino.

The origins of the Flat White
The origins of the Flat White seem to have struck up a debate about who really invented the creamy coffee. The rivalry sits between Australia and New Zealand who both claim they created the coffee in the 1980’s. To this day, the true answer has never been discovered, but it’s more than likely that both countries had an involvement in creating the drink. We wonder if the debate will ever come to an end…

The invisible ingredients
In a standard 160-165ml tulip cup, a Flat White coffee with a single shot of espresso will contain approximately 58 milligrams of caffeine and roughly 76 calories. Compared with other coffees such as the latte and the cappuccino, the Flat White coffee has a low amount of calories and a moderate amount of caffeine
