Shop NowThere are more than 200,000 coffee farms in Brazil - incredible isn’t it? That’s thanks to its warm tropical climate which is the perfect environment for growing great coffee. The main areas for coffee farms in Brazil are Mogiana, Sul Minas and Cerrado and it produces most of the world’s espresso beans.
Brazilian coffee characteristics are its richness and wonderful flavour throughout, as its coffee tends to be low in acidity and smooth in body, with sweet flavours such as chocolate and nut, making for a typically darker roast.
As you might expect, Brazil has a highly specialised coffee classification system. Due to the size of its industry and their high output it means that there's more opportunity for grading. Coffees tend to be sorted by size, colour and flavour, in order for them to be classified from best to worse - either strictly soft, soft, softish, hard, riada, rio and rio zona.
Whilst Brazil lacks the higher elevations which tend to produce better coffee, because of its lower elevations, farms can grow more coffee, faster - meaning higher quantities of coffee but not necessarily the highest quality. Some of the better quality grade coffees which grow at higher elevations feature citrus notes and other fruit characteristics, but it is uncommon for Brazil coffee beans to have a bright, juicy acidity.
What’s that we hear? How do you find and brew amazing Brazilian coffee for your customers or even from your own home? That’s simple; Cafe Du Monde stocks a wide range of Brazilian coffee beans for both domestic use as well as commercial and wholesale for businesses.
This includes Premier Cru Espresso Beans - a blend of Brazilian fine cup beans from the Minas Gerais Plateau; Ugandan robustas from the Lake Victoria region; arabicas from Honduras; and Bourbon varietal arabica beans certified by the award-winning Rainforest Alliance - Café Monte Sion Estate in El Salvador. These produce coffee that has a rich, syrupy sweetness with an earthy aftertaste punch. Cafe Du Monde’s Brazil Cafetiere is another firm favourite, as this gourmet Brazil coffee is shade-grown to mature the bean slowly and develop the flavours more fully. Its aroma is malty, sweet and nutty, with distinct notes of peanut, treacle tart and buttered toast. Yum! Last but not least there’s the Continental Cafetiere, which is a blend of several beans including those from the Minas Gerais region of Eastern Brazil. The blend is highly roasted to produce a dark, rich, all-day coffee with a wonderful aroma, and is a balanced, easy-drinking coffee with subtle citrus acidity smooth creamy flavour and a rich chocolate body. It’s as delicious as it sounds.
“I have worked with Café du Monde in various roles for 12 years, having first learned about them from an article in The Caterer. Their coffee is by far the best I have sampled, equalled only by the first-class support service they provide. They are, without doubt, my number one supplier.”
